Equity
Structural inequities are pervasive in academia, ranging from insufficient support for new parents causing women to leave the workforce, to widespread discrimination, harassment and abuse – including authorship abuse and academic bullying. These challenges have only deepened under a federal administration that has politicized science in ways that target the most vulnerable groups, who are already underrepresented in STEM fields.
With fair contracts, we can win stronger support for parents like funds for child-care related costs, expanded paid parental leave, and protections against discrimination and harassment. We can make Sinai more equitable while fighting back against efforts to make science less inclusive and diverse.
